I kid you not, I was almost jumping up and down with excitement that I finished a week of project life within a week of the actual week that I was scrapbooking. Does that make any sense at all? Work with me. I try to keep up with project life by sorting and printing the previous week’s photos on Monday and completing my pages before that same Friday. I am really bad at taking notes and tend to forget to include the stories that make life funny, so the sooner I finish my pages, the better my memory. We talked about this last week. Perhaps I’m just repeating myself so that I will remember to include some of this week’s stories when I get there. I’m not entirely sure you can teach an old dog new tricks.
I was extremely excited that my Studio Calico kit came on Tuesday, right after I had printed my photos. I was so excited that I actually committed to the subscription. I know. I can’t believe it either. This kit is making my project life experience much easier. I’m still using bits and bobs from my stash, but the kit gives me a great framework. I still get to be creative but I don’t get stumped. I really like that.
This week’s layout deviated from my (new) typical stick-to-one-page-for-the-week because we celebrated my mother-in-law’s 70th birthday and I wanted to have a page focused on some of the weekend’s events. I loved that my kit included a slight bit of red because I am not a red person but my mother-in-law loves it. This allowed me to make a page that was representative of her but still remain true to my style.
I added in some sequins, some sparkly alphas from Michael’s, and some old scraps from Pink Paislee, Sassafras Lass, Bazzil, and Basic Grey. There are a few other knick knacks from Studio Calico (like the glitter stars and cork arrows), but most of the layout is from this month’s kit. Simple, yes?
I love that the theme is home. It is perfect for a week with extended family. Oh, and have I ever shown you where I scrapbook? Right here.
Lovely, isn’t it? It has a few spiders, but we get along just fine. I’ll give you a tour of the inside one of these days. When it is actually clean.
